I’ve read a few topics on here about people requesting M1 builds of local and the Software engineers asking what performance issues they have experienced with Local running on Rosetta 2.
From my experience, the biggest performance issue has to do with battery life. I have Rosetta 2 installed on my Mac, but whenever possible I try to avoid running Intel apps for any period of time because I notice it greatly reduces battery life.
When I develop using Laravel Valet, the battery will last all day. When I use Local, the battery life is reduced by almost half.
I think this would be the biggest argument for providing an arm64 Universal build of Local.
