Hey @cormadev! Have you tried quitting Local and doing a full reboot yet? If not give that a go and if you’re still having trouble can you give a bit more info?
What is your OS?
What version of Local are you on?
Please attach a copy of your Local Logs
Keep us posted and we’d be happy to help further!
Hello Nick, first of all thank you for your reply!
I’ve been trying a lot of things already, but seems like my app/public folder was suddenly gone. I have copy-pasted the public folder of a fresh new site into my broken one, but it’s not working properly. I now have solved the 404 error, however, the website is very laggy now, and I’m not really sure if the issues are completely solved now (I’m rather new to this all). Maybe we can have a call on discord if you ever use it?
Hey @cormadev - I’m glad you’re seeing some progress! Since Local is a popular and free product, we do not offer any virtual support. That said we’re still happy to help you here if you want to share the details I requested above. We can take a look and see what else might be amiss!
Of course, I understand.
The issue started this morning, after I updated Local, this was around 10:00-11:00 CET
Thanks @cormadev! Not too much out of the ordinary in the logs but there are some connection type issues and some errors that might indicate a permission problem.
If your issues are mainly performance related, you might check out our guide here which has some recommendations including a couple of Windows specific items:
Sometimes for Windows users after an update a permission or setting can reset. We have a Windows Troubleshooting guide below that goes over some common items worth checking. For example, make sure you’re running Local as an admin user, that you don’t have any security blockers, and that Local has access to update your Hosts file.
Awesome, I will take a look at it, thank you Nick. Any idea though how my Wordpress files (public folder) were suddenly deleted after the update?
Hi @cormadev - Are you sure they were completely deleted? Have you tried searching your device for any Local Site’s files? It’s possible maybe they were shifted or quarantined. In the past with Windows users specifically sometimes permissions issues or security applications have caused things to get shifted or locked down.
For peace of mind moving forward, you can use our Cloud Backups feature to save copies of your sites. Or take periodic manual backups to save to your own physical or cloud storage.
