Local will not start.
I was using succesfully Local for weeks and created many local sites. One day I was trying to upload new theme and the application stopped responding. I had to force restarting the Windows as it stopped responding too. The application have since failed to start.
What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc
I have uninstalled fully the application, reinstalled the latest version, currently 9.1.1. for windows 10, I have no other developement application runing, no antivirus, no firewall etc. The Hosts file is not read only.
Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.
Hi @Nick-B
yes, I have launched now the app as administrator too but it does not help.
There are 3 processes running but the front-end of the app does not appear.
Please see attached screenshot.
sure, I have killed those processes and rebooted several times, but no help.
I don’t have any 3rd party security software just windows security standard apps.
I have now forced Local through Firewall to see if that was blockinh it but no.
You can do a complete uninstall/reinstall of Local if you want to give that a try. I saw you mention that you deleted your Local Sites so I’m assuming you didn’t want to save any of that work but if you have any sites you want to save you’ll want to retrieve and copy those files and folders first to your desktop or other storage first.
Next, fully uninstall Local from your computer using the Windows specific steps here: Uninstall Local - Local
Install the latest version of Local on this link: Releases - Local
Once installed, please restart the computer and then check and see if you can get back into Local
Hi @Nick-B
thank you, I have finally managed to run the app.
The issue was with the Local’s configuration folder that I had to manually delete after uninstall, as per the guide you provided.
The app is running now but I lost all my sites as those are not showing up in the Local sites list. I have previously deleted the folder with Local Sites but I have made a zip backup that I unzipped back to the User folder upon fresh instal. I tried to import the site through zip file but it won’t work properly. The imported site will open but not the WP Admin section. That has been probably lost when I have deleted the config folder where individual servers are saved.
You should still be able to recover the sites @ladi378 but you’ll have to zip up each individual site and then reimport them one at a time to get them back into Local.
