Local's apdate terminated site activation

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Local update took down locally run website. When I uploaded ZIP files to restore it says “please try again with a compatible ZIP file.”

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

I didnt have uploaded files to cloud beforehand.

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

now local doesnt allow me to create a new site.

Hi @iyolk

You might try manually installing the site with the steps here:

Manually Import a Local Site

With the update, something may have changed on your device with permission, for example. We have a Windows Troubleshooting guide below that goes over some common items worth checking. For example, make sure you’re running Local as an admin user, that you don’t have any security blockers, and that Local has access to update your Hosts file.

For some reason I cant create sites anymore, the “add website” button stays pressed and no website is added. strange thing that heppens is that the domain names are still being used and I cant create websites with the same name(even tho they arent displayed in the local’s “local sites” bar.

Tried unstalling and re-intalling the app and it still doesnt work.

I deleted all Local by Flywheel’s files so that the app regenerates new ones and it seems to solve the problem. CONS: I cant restore my website. Get backups for your projects boys :handshake:.

I’m glad you were able to get things working again @iyolk!

As a reminder we have a built in Cloud Backups feature: Cloud Backups

Or you can simply take an export of your site at any time to save to your own external/cloud storage: Backup a Local Site - Local
