Since I fell victim to the unreliability of XAMPP, with all troubleshooting steps failing, I want out. I was actively developing a website for which I still have the storage files, but XAMPP can not find a way to use it. I’m afraid that my current progress is completely gone, so I am wondering if it is at all possible to migrate the existing Wordpress implementation to LocalWP or if all progress is lost?
Additionally, I was wondering if LocalWP allows you to migrate the Wordpress website to your own server manually.
If you have the WP-Content and SQL you can try zipping those together and then simply dragging and dropping the file over the Local app which will start our native import process.
Alternatively, you can always spin up a new, blank site in Local first and then import your files and DB manually. We have some steps to get you started on that here:
There are many ways you can move your site out of Local to another host or server. Local has a native export function you can use that will generate a zip file with all of your content and DB, or you can use a free plugin like WP Migrate Lite to do the same. Of course you can also manually copy the files off your device or use a migration plugin of your choosing as well!
