My site is visible only from my computer

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Hi everyone,
I made a mistake while adding a new site in my local app. I accidentally changed the site domain from sitename.local to sitename.com. Now I can only access the site from my own computer, but not from any other device.

I don’t understand coding, so I’m unsure how to fix this. If anyone has experience with local apps or setting up local domains, I would really appreciate your help!

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

You’ll always want to keep your Local domain and your live domain different because they are essentially two different sites. The Local version is just a copy of your production site basically.

If you click on Start Site in Local (upper right hand corner) you should be able to click that Change button again and revert the domain to something like sitename.local. After that you might have to flush your browser caches and maybe restart your device.

If your domain is currently attached to a site that’s live and hosted elsewhere, then none of this will impact the experience for any users trying to navigate there.

The site is absolutely new. Yesterday I bought the domain, the hosting and vpn from Namecheap (Wordpress hosting), then added the site in the Local app. So I am not sure if the site is not visible, because I changed the link(I fixed it and now it is kristiyanatorosyan.local) or because the hosting is not activated yet, or the reason is something else. I will follow the instructions for the browser caches and restart. Thanks!

Local isn’t designed to host your site, it’s just a development application. So in order to take your site live you’ll have to arrange some sort of web hosting to add your domain (.com) to and point DNS there. Your Local site is just a copy for doing development, testing, etc that you can migrate to your host to update your live site.
