Please could you check that you downloaded the correct version of Local for your machine? (Local offers an Intel version and an Apple Silicon one.) You can choose “Get Info” on the Local app and check which one you have now. If you have the wrong one, download and install the correct version from the Local releases page.
If that doesn’t help, it might help us if you explain how you’re currently importing the site from Windows to macOS. Is it via Pull from WP Engine or Flywheel? An import from a zip created in Local? Or something else?
