Sheed Antivirus (an Iranian antivirus program) detected the installed Local.exe file as TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen2 and quarantined it.
The file is located at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Local\Local.exe
After installation, I was unable to launch Local successfully. Windows displayed an error stating that the file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action, referring to LOCAL.lnk.
The Windows installer was downloaded from the official Local website, and its digital signature is valid and identifies WP Engine, Inc. as the publisher.
Could you please help me determine whether this is a false positive affecting Local 10.2.0?
-
Download the Local 10.2.0 Windows installer from the official Local website.
-
Verify that the installer’s digital signature is valid and issued to WP Engine, Inc.
-
Install Local on Windows 10.
-
Sheed Antivirus detects
Local.exeasTR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen2and quarantines it. -
Attempt to launch Local and observe the resulting launch error.
The antivirus detection may depend on Sheed Antivirus and its definitions, so I cannot confirm that the issue occurs on every system.

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.
