Replacing old website with a new one on wordpress

Hello,
I have created an updated version of a currently running website within local. I wish to now export that website and replace the old one, but before I do I would like to know what will happen.
My boss would also like to know if the two can temporarily co-exist and hide the new one in drafts to make sure that it works.
I’ve been trying to find resources that explain the export-import process but have not been able to find any.
thank you

Hi there, @Charlie_STC - thank you for bringing your question to the Local community.

A few thoughts here:

01: Is this website hosted with Flywheel or WP Engine?

If so, you can use the Local connect feature to push those changes live.

If not, you can export the site & import it into your host.

You can use a migration plugin such as Blogvault or WP Migrate to migrate the site from Local to your host.

02: RE: "Co-existing sites"

This is not possible as described (keeping one in “drafts”). One way to do something like that is using something like a staging site to have a live version and then a back end development version. Although in this case, unless there is a reason to keep the old version of the site I’m not sure why that would be necessary.

Let me know if that helps!
