Restore Backup Of Website

What issue or error are you experiencing?

I’m facing an issue where I restored the backup of a website that I had created on Bluehost cPanel . The server crashed, which caused the website to crash as well. It wasn’t on localhost—it was on the server—but I had taken a backup of it. Now I’m trying to restore that backup using Local by installing WordPress and importing the backup. It seems like the backup is restoring, but the website is not displaying properly. I want to make the website live on my own domain. Please tell me how I can get the site to display correctly and what steps I should take to make it live.

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @Ruqayya-Abbasi

If you’re still having trouble manually importing a site into Local, we have some steps for how to do that manually here:

As far as how it displays, there could be some caching or mixed content issues at play. You can find some steps for investigating and addressing these kind of things in our help doc here:

As far as getting your site live, you should check with your webhost. If that’s going to be Bluehost or whoever you’re using. They might have a recommended migration process or tool that you could utilize or step by step documentation for taking your site live on their platform.
