I currently have a local copy of our running club’s WordPress website. The organiser of our two main events would like a separate site to reduce confusion for users registering for races. My thinking is that a WordPress multisite setup using sub-directories would be the most appropriate solution, as it would allow separate navigation and content while keeping everything within a single WordPress installation.
I’ve already migrated the live site to a local development environment and have started making some long-overdue design updates. We are currently using the Inspiro theme by WPZOOM, which I’m happy to continue using as it meets our requirements. As part of this work, I’m also trying to reduce the overall number of plugins in use.
Before going any further, I’d like to understand the recommended process for converting an existing single-site WordPress installation into a multisite. I’ve reviewed the official documentation, but it mainly covers setting up a multisite from scratch rather than enabling multisite on an existing site.
Any guidance, caveats, or best practices for this scenario would be appreciated.
