Sites load slow on local mac

Issue Summary

Last year I have posted a comment here on how slow sites load with the local app. Apparently the topic never got answered… I thought to try it again, this time with an upgraded maxed out MacBook Pro.

Every click takes roughly 5 to 10 seconds to load a new page, making building WordPress sites with local impossible.

I have tested the clean new site installation by local, an import of a small one-page website, and a big e-commerce website. These two lasts site are running very fast on a real server.

Troubleshooting Questions

  • Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?
    All sites

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?
    Yes and its slow to navigate
