Flywheel is great. By mistake, i configured live domain name in site settings. My blog-site is active but I can’t access it from my computer’s browser. I uninstalled local flywheel, and still the problem persists. I can access the site from other computers.

Please help me to fix this issue.

Sounds like there might be something left in your hosts file. Are you on Windows?

Create a backup of your hosts file before saving any edits!

By default your hosts file should be in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Use a text editor to open your hosts file. You should see a section for Local settings (## Local by Flywheel - Start ##)

There is probably a line with an IP address and your live website URL causing the error. Delete that line, save and see if that helps.

Thank you very much. It helped to resolve the problem on windows machine. How about MacOS ?

@khanjawad

It sounds like @stride_joe got you fixed up with Windows. Modifying the hosts file on macOS is very similar, but in a different location.

Create a backup of your hosts file before saving any edits!

The hosts file exists in this location: /etc/hosts. You’ll need to use the Terminal.app on macOS to locate and modify that file. I found an article for more macOS specific instructions: The Mac Hosts File: How to Modify /etc/hosts in Mac OS X with TextEdit.

There is probably a line with an IP address and your live website URL causing the error. Delete that line, save and see if that helps.

  • Look for what @stride_joe mentioned before that helped you on Windows.

I hope that takes care of it for you. Lets us know if we can help any more

Thanks for the Mac version @andypeters :+1:
