[TIP] Bypass Chrome NET::ERR_CERT_INVALID SSL Error

After searching all over the internet and trying pretty much every piece of advice I found the only way to bypass this self signed SSL error in Chrome was to use the secret passphrase built into the error page.

Make sure the page is selected (click anywhere on the background), and then type thisisunsafe

Alternatively you can use Firefox or Safari.

Hope this helps save people some time.

Hey @thejasonparker – this definitely gets you past the error, but I’d love to know more about what’s causing the issue in the first place.

  • Can you let us know what OS and what version of the OS is installed?
  • Also, can you upload the cert file so that we have an example of what is causing issues?
