Uh-oh! Unable to start site ()

Hello,

Following a change of computer (Mac OS) and data recovery with Time Machine, one of the sites installed on LocalWP (the most important!!!) no longer opens and generates an error on opening:

Error: Command failed: /Users/freddela/Library/Application Support/Local/lightning-services/mysql-8.0.16+6/bin/darwin/bin/mysqladmin ping
amysqladmin: connect to server at ‘localhost’ failed
error: ‘Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/Users/freddela/Library/Application Support/Local/run/Cgj0QOhmW/mysql/mysqld.sock’ (2)’
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: ‘/Users/freddela/Library/Application Support/Local/run/Cgj0QOhmW/mysql/mysqld.sock’ exists!

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

If you create a new, blank site in Local can you access that okay? If you can, then you may want to try reimporting the site getting the errors. The steps would look like this:

  • Locate the site files on your machine, and save a copy of them to your desktop. If you click Go to Site Folder under your site name it should take you right to where they are located.
  • Once you have those copied, completely delete the site from Local
  • Restart Local/your machine
  • Reimport the site back into Local. You can refer here on how to Restore from only Local site files

Hello,

I don’t see how your solution could work, if I completely delete the site from LocalWP I also delete its database ???

Also, when I’m on LocalWP, the Export command is only available on sites that have been opened. I can’t open mine, so I don’t see how I can export it, since the command isn’t available???

I didn’t say anything about using the export command.

Locate the site files on your machine, and save a copy of them to your desktop. If you click Go to Site Folder under your site name it should take you right to where they are located.

If you don’t know where your Local Sites folder is on your machine you can use the Go to site folder button in the app to get you to that area. It will be under your site name. Then you can compress and zip up your site folder, which also includes a copy of your database, to save and to reimport.
