Umlauts do not display

Hi Local Community

When I add an existing website with a Zip file to localWP it cann not display the umlauts in the text and in the Meta data. Would it be possible to fix this or to have a work around. I like to use localWP for staging sites or to develop an existing website further.

I think this ties into a long ongoing bug related to Windows and special characters. Here is our mega thread on this:

Moderator Note: Known Bug Summary Thank you everyone who has chimed in and helps clarify this issue! The general problem is that when a Windows Username includes special characters (so an apostrophe ' or a non-ASCII character like é) it can break the commands Local uses to communicate with the MySQL database.
