Unable to create a site in local

After multiple attempts. I can’t create a site. I keep getting the same error messages.

  1. “Local is requesting admin privileges to modify your /etc/hosts file.” I am an admin on the computer already. I even tried right-clicking on the local icon and running as admin, still no luck.

  2. I then receive the next error indicating that my “hosts” file is locked by anti-virus. I tried disabling anti-virus and my firewall before running local, and it failed again - generating the same error messages.

I’m scratching my head because I was able to use local without a problem a month ago. But ever since I tried upgrading to 5.2.3 or 5.2.4 I’ve been having problems. Is there a way to download an earlier version that works? Or is there another solution to this?
