Having recently upgraded from a Mac M1 to M4 running Sequoia, I was having the ‘Go Slow’ issue documented elsewhere on this forum. Thanks to the guidance, I have now resolved that issue but cannot fix the ‘Missing Mailpit-1.12.1+0 Don’t worry. We’ll reinstall it next time you start your site’ error message which appears every time I select a site in Local.
What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc
I have followed the corrective steps outlined here, but the problem persists. The folder ‘mailpit-1.12.1+0’ does not get recreated after stopping site, exiting Local and then restarting Local + site. I have no kind of anti-virus software running, other than the standard MacOS.
Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.
Thanks for this. A full uninstall/reinstall worked to some extent!
By that I mean those sites that I had initially created from scratch using Local have been successfully imported from the export file I made just before the uninstall / reinstall. All seems good there now !
However I have noticed that there is a problem importing my export files where a site had been created in Local from a live site using a migration plugin (Duplicator). See error message re : ‘We ran into an issue changing the Local Site domain’. These Local sites had been working fine before I started hitting the ‘Apple Silicon/Sequoia go slow’ and ‘MailPit’ issues which I think are resolved.
I do have log files that correspond with the failed import of these export files. Shall I raise a new ticket under a different topic (and close this off) ?
Can you get around it by changing your Router Mode to Localhost (Preferences>Advanced>Router Mode)? There might still be a reference to the previous domain on your device for example a certificate. You could try changing the name slightly too for example ellemfc1.
Thx Nick. I tried your suggestions without any success. Let me have a dig around over the weekend to see if I can narrow the issue down a little.
I know when I originally migrated some of my site from live to Local, I manually created a new database and replaced the Local WordPress install using the Duplicator files from the live site. Whilst the new Local sites worked fine, I feel I may have introduced something that is now causing the problem. I’ll get back to you. Thanks again.
Just to follow up on this. I have now successfully re-created all my Local sites in the fresh Local install and it all seems to be working fine now.
I had a problem importing a couple of my sites where I had originally created them in Local using a migration plugin to copy from the corresponding live site. I could see from the log files created when now trying to import these sites from the recent export zip that some SQL tables were ‘not found’. Also the size of the local.sql files in the Local Sites folder for both sites was 1Kb which seemed odd. I did recall when originally creating these sites in Local that I chose to create a new database rather than use the ‘local’ database - I can’t remember why! Anyway, I was still able to recreate both sites from the original migration files in my new/fresh Local install, and this time elected to use the ‘local’ database. I then tried exporting, deleting and then importing both sites and all is good.
Thanks for the original advice which was a huge help.
