While updating to the shiny new version on macOS went smooth, on Windows I just get the message:
Error while updating
Can not find Squirrel
But on my Mac it really looks great and speed improvement is obvious.

Got the same problem, Mac if find by Windows not happy. Busy downloading a fresh copy off the website (https://local.getflywheel.com/).

Hi all,
Just a heads up, this is a known issue. Updates from Local 2.0 and beyond should work on Windows 
If you run into this just update manually like @robhob. To update manually, simply download the latest version and run the installer and you’ll be good to go.
