Website Content Lost (again)

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Before using Local, I used XAMPP but had my entire database corrupted. A couple months ago, I remade the webpage using Local, and left it there. I could reopen it in a perfect state.

Now, I reopened it, started the website, and received the Router error. I remember doing everything locally, so I set it to localhost and did it again. I could log in, I had my media, but my webpages were once again gone. It breaks my heart that this happened twice because I just cannot get to really finishing a website that I’m confident I will keep, though I had not made a backup since I quickly loaded everything up again last time (since I barely spent time on it). Still, it is really demotivating. Where did everything go?

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hey @djmarcopolo!

Local shouldn’t be removing anything from your device, but it is always a good idea to take frequent backups while doing any kind of development work. You can utilize our Cloud Backups addon, or take a manual zip export backup to save somewhere.

Have you tried searching around your device to see if there are any Local Site Files you can locate that might have shifted?

As far as the logs go, there is a warning about permissions in your Router Log. We have a Windows Troubleshooting guide below that goes over some common items worth checking. For example, make sure you’re running Local as an admin user, that you don’t have any security blockers, and that Local has access to update your Hosts file.
