Windows and Imagick

What issue or error are you experiencing?

I’m running into the same Imagick issue where it’s looking for php_php_imagick.dll.dll

I’ve applied the script fix here in the PHP version I’m using, then restarted localWP, but my website is still unable to load Imagick.

System Details

  • Local Version: 9.2.9+6887

  • Operating System (OS) and OS version: Windows 11

In the script, I’ve updated the bin version to match my PHP version (8.3.29+1) but still no luck getting this to work.

This issue appears to have been going on for years now; is this a PHP root issue or LocalWP root issue?

Any tips or ideas on how I can get Imagick for this site? Then, any idea how I can wrokaround this so I don’t have to worry about it when creating future LocalWP sites?

Hi @Howdy_McGee!

This issue has been tricky because, in our testing, we haven’t been able to readily replicate it, so troubleshooting and investigation have been difficult. It only seems to happen for a small number of Windows users as well instead of being more widespread.

All that said we do want to help you get things working here. You mentioned that your website is still unable to load Imagick, but what about a new website? If you create a new, blank install after completing the script fix do you get the same ‘php_imagick.dll` error? If not, then you could try reimporting your previous site to get it to the same state.

If you’re still having problems after that could you share a full Local Log with us here? There are some different ways to access and share Local Logs. For us to be able to troubleshoot thoroughly, please click the Download Local Logs button from the Support tab in Local. This will generate a zip archive that contains the Local log along with some other diagnostic information to help quickly zero in on any issues that Local is encountering.
