Can't Change Site Path

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Haven’t used Local in a while, went to pull a new client site down to my desktop and realized my C: drive didn’t have enough space. Searched around and discovered that you can’t change a site’s location once it’s been provisioned, so I deleted the site from Local, went into Preferences and changed the New Site Defaults for Sites Path to be on my G: drive, and pulled the client site down again, but it still went into the old default \Local Sites path on the C: drive. Double checked my Preferences and the Sites Path was correctly set to my custom directory on G:.

So I used Revo Uninstaller to uninstall Local, scanned for config files and registry entries and deleted all of those. Reinstalled Local, set my New Site Defaults for Sites Path to be on my G: drive, pulled down the client site… and it’s still being downloaded into the default \Local Sites path on the C: drive.

If I create a new site from scratch inside Local, it also gets created in the \Local Sites directory on C:.

What’s going on here?

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

When using the WP Engine migrate function, it sets wrong file permissions when using any other drive but c: If I import the site from WP Engine into the default location (C:\Users\Josh\Local Sites) the migration/site functions correctly and the file permissions are all correct. If you’re unable to use C drive then as a workaround you could direct import your site instead of pulling: Create and Download a Backup from WPE: Backup and Restore - Support Center Import into Local: Import/Export a WordPress Site - Local As an alternative to Pushing you can use the free WPE Migration plugin:

Thank you @devstick - I’ve checked and our Local Dev’s still have this on their roadmap but have had to prioritize some other work. We’ll be sure to share an update when this is resolved!
