Cloud Backups add-on

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to use the extension cloud backups but I get an error message
“This add-on needs to be updated to work with your version of local”.

I deleted the sites and uninstalled the Local app and then did a fresh clean install but again I got this message.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

If you go to the Add Ons section, then Installed, it should show you if there is an update available for Cloud Backups. Do you see anything there?

Negative!

Nothing there…

It doesn’t look like you have the Cloud Backups Add on installed at all actually. Can you go to the Library and install it?

The button is disabled and cant intall the extension.

Ahhh okay my mistake I didn’t understand where you were getting the error! This might be a bug with the latest release. I’m going to check with some team members and then I’ll follow up with you once we know more!

Thank you nick!

We’ve been able to replicate this so I’ll follow up with the Local Devs and see what the issue might be. We likely won’t have an answer until after the weekend so in the meantime if you need to back up any sites while you work, a workaround would be to just right click your site name and select Export to create a backup zip file. Or you could use a free plugin like WP Migrate Lite to create a full site export to save!

For another workaround, you can manually download the add-on here:

https://storage.googleapis.com/local-cdn/addons/getflywheel-local-addon-backups-2.1.0.tgz

After you have that downloaded you’ll go to Installed Add Ons in your Local app, and click on Install from disk on the right-hand side there.

After you do that you’ll need to quit and restart Local, and then you should see the Cloud Backups add-on working! We should have a fix out for that in the near future but just thought I’d provide a workaround for you and any others that need it.

This is now fixed! Log in to Local Hub and you should be able to install the add-on.
