Hub Login error: PROVIDED AUTH TOKEN FOR THE REQUEST IS DIFFERENT FROM THE SESSION AUTH TOKEN

What issue or error are you experiencing?

I am trying to set up live links through Local on my Mac
I’ve created a Local Account online. (Using Chrome)

Welcome To Your Local Account > Open Local > (Live Link) Enable > Log In To Your Local Account > Log In > 403 | THE PROVIDED AUTH TOKEN FOR THE REQUEST IS DIFFERENT FROM THE SESSION AUTH TOKEN.

Using Safari taking the same steps i get the following screen

and if i try again
Safari Can’t Connect To The Server

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

From Local app> Log Into Local > 403 | THE PROVIDED AUTH TOKEN FOR THE REQUEST IS DIFFERENT FROM THE SESSION AUTH TOKEN.

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hey @JamesHuxley, Welcome to the Local Community Forums!

This is a tricky issue that has happened to other users before. This thread probably has the most info:

Basically, something is happening to the credentials between your computer and when they get to Local Hub. It’s hard to say what that would be, but some possible ideas would be:

  • Outdated browser? You might try setting a different browser as the default and then re-logging in. If that works, then you should check for updates to the original browser and see if that helps.

  • The router for your LAN. To test this theory, you could try a different network (like a coffeeshop or a hotspot from your phone). If that works, then maybe there’s an update for the router or other hardware in your network.

  • A VPN. Sometimes VPNs tamper with requests. You might try temporarily disabling the VPN and see if that allows you to connect.

  • Antivirus or security software. Again, these may be inspecting and/or tampering with requests that the computer makes. You might try disabling those.

Let me know if any of those things help!

Hey Ben

Thanks so much for this, you ABSOLUTE LEGEND!

I went on changed default browser to Safari (even though I’d been trying with Safari and Chrome) and it worked.

Thank you so much, I’ve spent so long on this today.

And all because I have some issues with a template and need to show the developer, so need to get this to work. :exploding_head: haha

Cheers
J
