I’m getting a BIOS error about VT-X/AMD-v during installation

[Windows] I’m receiving the following error “This computer doesn’t have VT-X/AMD-v enabled” and I have enabled the Virtualization Technology (VT) in the BIOS and I don’t have Hyper-V enabled and I don’t have it in the Windows Features so it’s not available on my computer

Hi, Welcome to the Club!

by the way, I think there are instructions when an error occurs but let’s say this is all about what I have encountered as well. Yoi can search on this forums my username which is “mauwiks” to know about it in details. Kindly try these following context below to be able to survive the installation as I did the last time.

  1. Try to search how can you enter BIOS Mode for your model or unit of computer or machine. for me I am using HP laptop. So I am believe it is ESC.

  2. Restart your computer and use the appropriate key for your computer or laptop to enter “Setup” and then the BIOS mode.

  3. Find the VIRTUAL TECHNOLOGY configuration or something like VT, and enabled it if it is disabled. I believe it is disabled in default if you have not touch it ever before.

  4. Once enabled, hit F10 to Save and Exit the BIOS mode and SETUP of your computer. It will then restart your computer back to Windows.

  5. Search for VirtualBox Oracle in Google.com or Google Search. Install the latest version of it appropriate for your OS.

Download it here and install to your computer: https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.2.18/VirtualBox-5.2.18-124319-Win.exe

  1. Run the installation of Local by Flywheel once again and hope for something awesome.

If you have further erros after following all of these above, don’t hesitate to hit reply.

Happy Flywheeling!

Some issue persists even though that I’ve the Virtualization Technology enabled in the bios and I’ve downloaded the latest version of VirtualBox and Local and the same error it’s not solved
"Error with pre-create check: “This computer doesn’t have VT-X/AMD-V enabled. Enabling it in the BIOS is mandatory”

Try to find out how to reset the VirtualBox and install the Flywheel again. And by the way, I forgot to add on the list that you must turn off your computer’s Public Firewall, as well as anything related to antivirus protection apps. If you done everything right from all these tips, you should be good

I have the Firewall and AntiVirus disabled and I’ve reinstalled the VirtualBox and Flywheel
@clay I NEED A SOLUTION

I also have a HP Omen new laptop and Virtual is enabled as attached picture shows.
Still cannot finish install of Local software :frowning:

@vibebeacons,

Please ensure that Hyper-V is disabled. You can do so by going through the following steps:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu
  2. Type: CMD
  3. Right-click CMD
  4. Click Run as administrator
  5. Enter and run bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
  6. Restart your PC
  7. Re-open Local

@aliayad,

I know you mentioned that you disabled Hyper-V, but please go ahead and run through the steps above.

If the issue persists, please provide your PC’s make and model.

Thank you Clay those clear instructions seemed to help!!!
Maybe they should be included with install instructions.

Thank you again!

Hey @clay,
