Live link keeps disconnecting

I just created my first site in local. Whenever I enable live link and the site is accessed from another location, live link automatically disables and I get an error message.

This is the only site I have created so far

The site works perfectly when accessing it from my browser locally

I’m using the latest version of Local

OS is Windows 10 Pro

Are you able to view the site via Live Link in an incognito window or another device, like your phone?

Hi,

I’m getting the same issue on mobile. I’m able to access it on incognito but the page formats are very broken and a lot of the pictures do not load. Also, If I enable live link and do nothing it disconnects automatically after about 2 minutes and the same error message pops up.

Hmm okay, interesting. It may be helpful to see your Local logs - can you follow this Help doc and attach them?

Regarding the missing pictures etc - are you using a page builder by chance like Elementor or Divi (etc)? Is your site using an SSL?

I am using elementor but I did not install an ssl. I pasted the log file in my original message.

Hey @snoopsnoop – That’s very odd that the Live Link gets closed down when a connection is made.

Looking at the specific error message in the logs:

It seems like the remote Tunnel can’t connect to the site on your machine.

That makes me wonder if there’s some sort of security setting in place that would prevent that connection.

A few follow up questions:

  • Do you have any sort of Antivirus installed and active? I’m thinking something that would prevent a remote connection to your machine.

  • Similarly, is this a work computer? Are there security settings in place, perhaps from an IT department? Again, these would likely be something that would be preventing remote connections to this machine.

  • Can you describe in a little more detail how this computer connects to the internet? Do you have any security settings on the router for you Wifi connection? Or are you using a VPN to connect to the internet?

The thing is, it does connect. I’ve been doing some more testing and I’ve noticed a few things. Sometimes it would stay connected for much longer periods and I’ll be able to access the site, however the pages are broken and do not load properly. Also, If I try to connect to the site through a vpn it will disconnect almost immediately. If I enable live link and just leave it there, most times it would automatically disconnect within a minute or two and some of the times it would remain connected for long periods.

  • I do have bitdefender running on the machine

  • It’s not a work computer, it’s a home computer

  • No security settings on the router, and I don’t use vpn’s unless I’m testing certain things.

Are you able to take a screenshot of the site with the browser console open?

I’m curious what kinds of errors are in the browser console? From the description of the problem, it sounds like maybe images and styles are being blocked for some reason.
