Local Access outside of local network

Hello,
First time posting here.

I am running local on a Mac OS machine.

I would like to use WP to access and work on my site outside of my local network. Is there any way to do that? I would like to be able to use my MacBook or an iPad.

Hi @Wilinusa

There isn’t an easy way to work on the same site from different machines. What you’ll need to do is export the site and then import into each machine. Once you make changes to it you’ll have to export it and import it again on the next machine otherwise the updates won’t be visible there.

A couple of workarounds to help with this workflow:

  • Utilize our Cloud Backup service: Cloud Backups

  • Use a Staging or Demo site that you can push and pull from. For example, Flywheel has a free 14-day Demo. Flywheel Demo Site. You could push the site to the Demo from one machine, and then pull it down on another machine.

Perhaps you should consider using remote desktop software. Apple appears to have it’s own tool, but there are a number of third-party offerings as well.
