Local Backup Add-on with Dropbox 500 error

I have Cloud Backups v2.1.2 installed and it won’t backup to Dropbox. I also tried Google Drive. I get the following error message: “Cloud Backup failed! There was an error while completing your backup.” I’m currently using Local Version 9.1.1+6738.

Hi @bdom!

We would be happy to assist with your Local troubleshooting! Could you provide some more details to help us take a further look?

  • What is your OS/OS version?

Hey @bdom it doesn’t look like we can download and open your logs for some reason.

I wanted to take a look at your logs and see if maybe you were running into the same issue as this other use who had a Cloud Backups problem last week. Maybe you can take a peak at your logs and see if that’s the case?

A new update for the add-on v2.1.3 just came out and fixed the issue.

I updated the Cloud Backup add-on to the latest version 2.1.3 and was able to get a single backup of a site. But when I went back to make a new backup of another site, it gave me the same error message.

You suggested installing Rosetta. I couldn’t get it to install. I’m running Local on a iMac 4.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 using Ventura 13.7.4. It’s my understanding that I don’t need Rosetta 2. But even if I do, it won’t let me install it using Terminal. I get a message saying it’s not supported.

Any suggestions?

Is it erroring for all backups now? For example if you go back and try to back up the site where it started working does that still got through or has the error returned?

Do you have any other sites you can test or possibly spin up a new one just to see if it gets the same?

It errors on all sites, every time, I try to backup. I’ve 30+ sites.

Got the same issue here - this is a crucial part of everyones process. 1st, Dropbox stopped working (Server Error 500) reverted to Google, now that doesn’t work either – every time. I’ve removed the add-on and restarted then reinstalled etc, still same issues.

Thank you @DesignSmiths! Could you share some details for us to help in our troubleshooting?

Sure – See below:

Apple M1 Pro
OS Sequoia 15.2
Local Version 9.2.2+6771

Currently tried removing the add-on and rolling back from the latest version to previous two versions with no luck. Everythng was and has been working great up until around Thursday last week?

I’m running a WordPress site locally using WP Local, and I’ve been trying to connect Dropbox as a cloud backup solution. However, every time I attempt to link my Dropbox account, I get a ** 500 Server Error**. The error appears immediately after clicking the connect button.

Steps I’ve Tried:

  1. Clearing Cache – Cleared browser cache and tried in an incognito window.

  2. Checking Logs – The error logs show a generic 500 error without much detail.

  3. Restarting WP Local – Restarted the WP Local environment to see if it was a temporary issue.

Im guessing its something to do with outdated / missing credentials on dropbox?
Anyone encountered this and successfully reset the connection?

Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey @ptbalfour!

To clarify is this using our Cloud Backups Add On tool? Or a different service?

What is your OS/OS version and Local version?

Hey @Nick-B,
using Local Cloud Backups Add On tool.
Version 9.1.1+6738
Mac OS / 12.7.6 (21H1320)
Thanks

If you go to your Add Ons library and click on Cloud Backups can you see what version the add on itself is using as well? Here is mine:
