Local by Flywheel 5 - Heads-up! Local's router is having trouble starting

I’ve downloaded and installed the Local by Flywheel version 5 a couple of days ago and today I’m running into a problem with a red banner on the top that reads the following error message:

Heads-up! Local's router is having trouble starting.

I’ve researched this problem on the web and people suggest going to Preferences > Advanced > switch Router Mode to localhost, but this also doesn’t work for me. When I click on the View Site button, I’m taken to a page with the following error message in my browser:

This site can’t be reached
bootstrap-components.localrefused to connect.
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

The app was working fine until today and I did a lot of troubleshooting steps such as putting various commands in my mac terminal, but nothing is working.

Does anyone know any other way of fixing this problem?

I’ve had this happen and needed to go quit Local, then quit all instances of nginx. On a Mac, you do this in the Activity Monitor app by searching for it there. For me there was one instance left even after Local was quit. Upon reopening Local the error goes away.
