Local crashes while determining file list via MagicSync

What issue or error are you experiencing?

I have a site up and running perfectly in Local. I made it by importing a Zip downloaded from WP Engine. Everything there is good.

However, I have tried to pull the site from WP Engine, figuring it MagicSync would pull only the updated files (and maybe database differences?). In any case, when I select the site and environment, I get a loading graphic and the note “Determining file list…”

The screen stays there for several minutes, then Local simply closes with no error message.

Thanks!

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Load a very large site with a huge “uploads” folder into Local. Then try to pull the site from WP Engine with the little “download” link:

And select the site and environment, and check “Include database.”

Hi @humbabba

When you Pull are you de-selecting items in MagicSync that you want to exclude for example Uploads?

That’s my intention, but I never see the items to deselect. The app crashes while before it loads the list of items to deselect. I get a loading graphic and the note “Determining file list…”

The screen stays there for several minutes, then Local simply closes with no error message.

Ah okay thank you for the clarification. Do you know how large the site is? How large is the media library, database etc?

The Zip archive was like 50GB. I’ve deleted it now to clear space. So pretty massive.

We don’t have any hard limits built into Local as far as size, but it might just be too big to sync up using native features. You might have to explore using a migration plugin option like WP Migrate PRO instead as an alternative.

I assume the issues are just with this site? If you’re working with an average-sized or new site the function works normally?

That’s correct. Thanks
