Multisite - Main site works but /subs don't - I get this: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Issue Summary

I have a multisite. The main site works but /subs don’t.

Eg. http://localhost10029/ works fine, but a site at http://localhost10029/newsite doesn’t.

I get this: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Troubleshooting Questions

• Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?

Just this one. (It’s the only multi-site I have)

• Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?

YES.

Replication

I setup a new install as a MU. I created 2 subsites eg. /site1 / site2. Then I designed the main site using Elementor Pro. When I moved onto the /site one I get the error on the front end and admin. So it’s totally unusable.

• Which version of Local is being used?

Latest.

• What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?

Latest Mac OS.

Also did you create your multisite with the steps included in our article here?

I didn’t see that document.

However, I don’t see.“Sync Multisite domains…”.

Re “Router Mode” I don’t see this option either.

Hi @carlneumann

It looks like your multisite setup is created for Subdirectories, whereas the Sync Multisite domains piece is only meant for multisites using Subdomains.

When you have Local up and running, you’ll see Local in the upper left-hand corner of your screen up by your Apple icon. If you click there, then Preferences, Advanced, you’ll see the Router Mode piece.
