Problems after unexpected shutdown

Issue Summary

After my computer unexpectedly shut down the website presents this error - “Error establishing a database connection” and when I make a .zip to import and try to recover all the content, the new website doesn’t show most of the images and texts. Besides this issue, it also started showing some theme preset configurations.

Troubleshooting Questions

  • How can I properly recover all the content?

  • Mac unexpected shutdown

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used?
    Version 3.3.0

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?

    • macOS Catalina 10.15.7
  • Attach the Local Log. See this Community Forum post for instructions on how to do so:

  • Mysql Website Log - error.log (406.4 KB)

If the content isn’t showing after restoring with a zip file, then I think that the content might be lost due to the database being corrupted within the Virtual Machine.

More than likely the individual images that were used are still within the wp-content/uploads folder, so you should be able to re-import and generate that content within the WP Admin, but I don’t think there’s a way to get that content restored automatically.

Thanks Ben, your help is precious. :+1:

What you say is to import the images with the same name that are in the wp-content/uploads folder and the content is generated again?

Is there something that I can do to generate the texts content, menus, plugins installed and configurations again for example? Or can I just shortcut with the images?

There’s no way to re-create the content, but you can re-import the images so that they can be used again. This will mean that you don’t have to re-create the images from scratch.

This plugin can help with importing the images into WordPress’ media library:

But after that, you’ll need to re-create the content by manually.
