I’m very disapointed with this software.
I need to do a backup restore of my website and since the server router is always giving error, I always get the site damaged.
The installation of plugins are also always giving problems and I’m tired of having to redo my websites.
Hi @sofia_manso,
So sorry for the trouble!
What plugin are you using to back up your Local site?
Also, are you on Windows or macOS?
Updraft Plus, and I’m working on Windows.
The problem is, the local router is always failing and it is always on a crucial time. This time failed during a backup restore, and my website was damaged.
I`m using preferred.
Thanks! You may want to try switching to the “Custom” environment in this specific case.
You can do so by doing the following:
- Right-click on the site in Local’s sidebar
- Go to Export and follow that flow
- Drag-and-drop the exported site archive back onto Local’s window to trigger the import
- Follow the steps and select “Custom” as the environment
What is the diference between
environments?
Hi @sofia_manso,
Here are the primary differences:
- Preferred has a Varnish caching layer
- Preferred is locked to one PHP version, Custom allows you to select different PHP versions
- Preferred is locked to nginx, Custom allows you to select either nginx or Apache
With that said, can you try creating a brand new Local site using the Custom environment and then try importing the Updraft Plus backup into that new site?
Yes but what options should I select after chose custom enviroment? I’m sorry but i’m just a designer, I’m not aware of this kind of things…
Hello,
1.I tried this option you recomended:
Right-click on the site in Local’s sidebar, Go to Export and follow that flow, Drag-and-drop the exported site archive back onto Local’s window to trigger the import, Follow the steps and select “Custom” as the environment.
- I set the Custom with 7.2.0 PHP version, Apache Web server and My SQL version 5.6.34
Got this message when click on admin:
Hi @sofia_manso,
PHP 7.2.0 is quite new and some themes/plugins will throw errors with PHP 7.2.0.
PHP 7.1 is probably your best bet for now.
Regarding that error, it looks like Divi isn’t fully installed.
I would go into the site’s app/public/wp-content/plugins folder and remove divi-builder. If that solves the issue, you can re-install it.
Ok, thanks.
The next time I start a website, what kind of environment should I choose? And if I choose custom what are the options that I should select?
I want to try to avoid a similar situation, trying to choose the best environment right at the beginning.
Generally speaking, Preferred is the best for most situations.
This specific problem is an edge-case that will be ironed out in the next version of the Preferred environment.
If you want to use Custom, I would select PHP 7.0.3 or 7.1.4 and MySQL 5.6.
