Restore Error

Hello.
I’m backing up my data to Google Drive.
I backed up my new site after it was completed.
I then installed plugins and themes and made a second backup.
I then uploaded media, but I wasn’t satisfied with the results.
I also got an error when trying to restore from the second backup.
The message I got was:

cloud backup restore failed! Error at line 535 unknown command.

I didn’t know the cause, so I successfully restored from the backup the first time.
For some reason, I can’t restore the second backup. It displays an error.
I only added plugins and a theme when I made the second backup,
and there are no major changes from the first backup.
Why does restoring the second backup result in an error?
I’d appreciate any advice.

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Sorry you encountered this, and thanks for sharing your logs, @shige.

The backed up SQL file seems to contain corrupt data, so Local is unable to import it:

{“class”:“ImporterLocalExport”,“level”:“error”,“message”:“Unable to import C:/Users/shige/Local Sites/geme-test/app/sql/local.sql”,“stack”:"Error: ERROR at line 476: Unknown command ‘\’.\n

This may not be due to a change you made in WordPress, but because of an error writing the file. (This isn’t something you should encounter very often, but disk/network issues as well as antivirus or security software could affect this process.)

If you have only added added plugins and a theme since your first backup, the quickest fix will be to restore your working backup then re-add the plugins and theme.

If instead you want to attempt recovery of the second backup, you could follow the manual recovery guide as described below.

Then try to repair the SQL file if possible (by inspecting/adjusting the content on line 535), and zip up and import the database and files together:

Hello. Thanks for your reply.
Please wait while I check.
The easiest way to do this is to export the backup and save it locally,
and then import the export file when you want to restore it, right?
In that case, would it be better to delete the entire existing site before
exporting and then import?

You’ll need to follow the steps above if you want to export a zip from a backup, @shige.

You can keep the current site when importing a new one, though — just give the new site you’re importing a new name.
