Something very bizzare on my account, should I be worried?

I just made a new account, but couldn’t login from WP Admin. So I tried restoring password, but never receive an email to restore it.

I activated One-click admin, and I did get to login, but beside that button is a name of a person that isn’t mine.

After I logged in, on my account details, my e-mail is correct, but the username is Rodrigo, which isn’t my name. How did a random name get there? And it says: “usernames cannot be changed”.

Also, on the Website field, it is already filled with a domain that I don’t recognize. How did that get there?

This is very odd. Anyone know what is happening? And should I be worried?

I’m new to Local and Wordpress. This is my first time trying to use it am I’m not tech savvy.

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

I forgot to place these prints. This is the user name that was on my account when I opened it for the first time:

This is the website that was already on the account that I just created for the first time:

Thanks guys!

Hi @phillbu

Is this a site you created from scratch in Local or one that you imported from elsewhere?

Generally speaking when you turn on One-click admin it will pick the admin for the site if there is only one, or it will give you a drop down of all the admins.

You didn’t get an email because since Local is, well, local all of the email stays in the app. You’ll find your password resets in the Mailpit area.

For future admin login issues, you can always add/edit/create admins via Site Shell if you need.

Thanks for your response Nick!

That’s the thing. I did not create any website. I just downloaded Local and only created my wordpress account for the first time. I didn’t do anything and I don’t even know how to anything. How can a whole website be here?

This website is not mine and this domains is also not mine:

You said everything was Local. I didn’t know that. Does that mean websites here will be local? When I click on Open Site this website that I do not recognize opens. But when I close Local the website isnt reachable. Does this mean that I need to keep my pc on for other to access my future website? That’s not what I was looking for.

Still, how can there be an admin name that I also don’t recongize. Please, is there a way to get support? Or any explanation to this?

Hey @phillbu

The site you’re looking at is just a basic, default WordPress site using a default WordPress theme. This is normal for when you create a new site until you start doing your development, changing themes, plugins, pages, etc.

Local is a Local only app yes, while we do have certain features like Live Links for sharing a preview, Local is just meant for development and not a hosting solution for sharing a public website. If you’re looking to have a live website that’s publicly accessible right away then you’ll want to find a web host that fits your needs and purchase a plan.
