Unable to delete site - folder missing

What issue or error are you experiencing?

I have a site listed in local, but the folder for the site was deleted (by someone else), soI am unable to remove the site from local.

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

I tried replicating another site folder and giving it the name of the missing folder, but the deletion still didn’t work. I need to remove the site so I can import a newer version.

I tried creating a new site with a different name (test1) and preferred setup, and it gets hung up at ‘Starting up Site Services’ window. I closed Local, reopened and the test site is listed, but has the ‘Missing hosts entry. This site may be inaccessible.’ message, and the Fix It button doesn’t seem to do anything. I cannot delete that site either.

I’ve tried rebooting Local, as well as my machine, with no luck.

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @kriskate

It sounds like your hosts file is unable to update. Could it have been changed to Read Only? You might check that or your security settings to make sure Local is able to make changes.

It would also be a good idea to check and see if you are an admin user with proper permissions, and if your machine has enough disk space available for new sites and changes.

Thanks for the reply. After a bunch of wrangling, it appears I didn’t have the proper permissions to change the hosts file. We’ve got it remedied and everything seems to be working now.
