Unable to migrate a website from local to WordPress

Hello Support,

I exported a site created in Local using the export feature. However, when I uploaded the .zip file, the upload failed.

I tried All-in-One Migration to move the site to WordPress, but the download file is incomplete; it will not install. It looks like Local strips out the .wpress extension.

How can I move the site from local to WordPress?
Felix

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @friveraus

When you saying “WordPress” are you using a specific hosting provider? Like WordPress.com (Automattic) for example.

If you’re using a host, they might have a migration team, or other support or documentation on how to migrate a site. They might even do it for you if you’re able to give them the zip file.

They might also have tools like SSH or SFTP that you could use instead to manually move your files and folders to their platform.

As far as migration plugins, if you’re looking for a premium solution we recommend WP Migrate Pro. Here is their guide:
