Unable to update host files

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Local ran into a problem when trying to update the hosts file. It says to ensure the hosts file is not locked by anti-virus.

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

I stopped the windows anti-virus and clicked ‘fix it’ on screenshot 'WPLocal error2 - 25.03.2024 however same error came up. I then installed WP Local on another drive on the same computer but the same has happened, see screenshot ‘WPLocal error - 25.03.2024’.

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

It looks like security software is still preventing Local from reading and writing to files, @bakgataussie.

If you disabled the software or allowed Local to run, you may need to restart Local before it takes effect.

If you allowed Local, restarted Local and continue to see the errors you reported, something may still be blocking Local. Some guides here that may help:
