Which files do I copy from CP?

  • I have backed up my website public folder/domain name/contents in the folder using FileZilla
  • I have also copied phyMy Admin
  • I have created a clean instal on my local drive - Local Sites

Questions:

  • Do I copy specific files or all files from my backup public_html
  • What of the SQL, do I copy the SQL file to MySql in the local sites folder?

I assume you were trying to copy your live WordPress site to Local.
The easiest way to do that is using a backup plugin. I used UpdraftPlus plugin from WordPress repo. Backup your live site with the plugin and don’t forget to use a cloud storage, I was using Google Drive.
Then on your Local site, install the same plugin and do the restore from cloud storage backups.

I’m assuming you’re trying to get a site into Local, have you reviewed this document about how to import a website into Local?

There are a few tools you can use, including WP Migrate.
