Can't sign into Wordpress after today's update

Doesn’t recognize my email and also connection not secure. Been using it constantly but today’s update (9/14/23) seems to have done something.

Running Windows 10

Is this a bug?

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @kkunkel70

Can you create a new user or update your password manually and see if that works? Instructions below:

Ran the wp user list and it showed no user id’s at all. Interesting. Seems like it got wiped out.

Did the create user command…wp user create username email --role=administrator. Email does not include the word Local. Keeps coming up with Unknown error creating new user.

If you look at the database is the Users table still in there? Are you able to locate and view the Local site files on your machine?

Is this site backed up anywhere like with our Cloud Backups add on?

Oh, boy! This doesn’t look good. I have the website backed up with WPVivid.

Oh, I do see my ID out there.

If the website is backed up then you should be able to directly import a backup zip to get it loaded again.

I’m wondering if something shifted on your machine when the updated happened. Are you able to locate your site files? Does your harddrive have plenty of space? Are you using external storage?

I stuck the Local directory under a personal directory and it’s there. Does all this point somewhere else? I have 29GB of disk space left. I’m not using any external storage. I’m going to copy my backup to my flash drive as an added protection. Does it sound like a delete and reinstall? One thing that happened in the past few days was two updates in a row from Windows where Microsoft really screwed things up. I wonder if that’s what messed it up.

Yeah it sounds like those updates might have been the cause then since you’ve checked all else. Your best bet might be a reinstall and then reimport the site.

Thanks for all your help, Nick. The restore begins.

No problem! Sorry that it had to go this way but if you have any other questions or concerns don’t hesitate to reach back out. We are always happy to help!
