Created login details when I downloaded Local but can't login to wp-admin

Hello there,

I’m new and ignorant of Wordpress.org and website creation.

I am working on a Mac (Sequoia 15.3.1) and downloaded Local intending to make my work easier.

I completed log-in details when I started Local.

I can access Local and I can access the WordPress.org website, but I can’t log-in to the wp-admin via Local as none of my log-in suggestions are recognised.

How may I resolve this?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @RemyQuibbler

When you spin a brand new Local site there will be a credential option that is specific to just that site and not the same as your Local Hub login or WordPress.org login unless you make it the same.

If you pulled or imported an already built site in Local, then it may already have credentials and users in place.

If you’ve only just gotten started, you could just spin up a new site and make sure to note the credentials you enter into the boxes above. If you need to get into the site you have in Local already however you can click on the Site Shell button in your Local app and then use WP-CLI commands to create a new user or update an existing user. We have steps for this in our guide here:
