How to use Pull with own hosting?

Hello,

I have downloaded Local WP, intending to use it for my WordPress.org site. However, when I attempt to set up hosting, it pulls content from WordPress.com, where I have an account but no active site. Could you please explain why it is accessing WordPress.com instead of WordPress.org when I am providing my WordPress.org credentials?

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards, Adam

Hi, @AdamS!

Can you clarify what you mean by:

when I attempt to set up hosting, it pulls content from WordPress.com,

Local does not pull content from wordpress.com by default, unless you configure your site to use plugins that depend on wordpress.com, such as Jetpack. Perhaps you could share some screenshots or explain further?

Hi Nickc,

Thanks for your response! Let me clarify my issue:

I want to create a local backup of my website that is hosted on WordPress.org, but when I try to pull the site into Local WP, it somehow connects to my WordPress.com account instead. I do have an account on WordPress.com, but my actual website is self-hosted and should not be linked to it.

This is my page: www.bazenari.com
and this is how looks backup: http://zloha-bazenri.local/

I’m not using Jetpack or any other plugins that rely on WordPress.com (at least to my knowledge). Could it be that my site was mistakenly associated with my WordPress.com account at some point? How can I ensure that Local WP pulls my site from the correct source (WordPress.org) instead of connecting to WordPress.com?

Thanks!

Best regards,
Adam

Thanks for the extra info, @AdamS!

The “Pull” option built into Local only works with sites hosted on WP Engine or Flywheel.

To pull/push a site from another server, you’ll need a plugin such as WP Migrate (made by WP Engine, the same company that makes Local) or a similar plugin (like Duplicator or All-in-one WP Migration).
