Import Site Errors

I am trying to transfer my Local Sites from my Desktop computer to my laptop.

I have Exported the sites to ZIP files, copied the ZIP files to my Laptop and tried to Import.

I am getting the following popup messages at the end of the extraction process:

Can anyone assist me please !!!

Thanks
Kind regards

Hi @watkinslk!

This error is fairly common. Sometimes it’s down to a security application, firewall, or another developer program in place that is blocking Local.

One thing you could test out is to change your Router Mode to LocalHost and then see if it will accept the site. More details here: What is Router Mode? - Local

If you’re still having issues after checking for any security blocks and changing your Router Mode, could you let us know your OS, OS version, Local version, and provide your Local Log? Retrieving Local’s Log File

Keep us posted and we’d be happy to help further!

Hi Nick,

Thanks so much for your assistance.

I have turned off all anti-virus / Malware protection, turned off all firewalls, but getting the same error.
So I have turned everything back on and ran a new import and attached the log zip for you.

This is a brand new Windows 11 Pro laptop with plenty of CPU, RAM, Storage (HP OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop).
Local on both PC and Laptop have the same version of Local.

Hoping you can spot something to solve this problem.

Thanks
Kind regards

Thank you for the follow-up @watkinslk! For some more insight are you able to create a new, blank site in Local without any problem? Have you been able to import or pull other sites previously?

Hi Nick,

I managed to get it working at last !!!

Let me give you a breakdown of what I did.
Hopefully this can help others experiencing the same or similar issue.

  1. On the new laptop:
Open Local, create a new site, export the new site, stop the site, close Local, move the site to a different folder on the Laptop, open Local, change the Site Path, import the new site.
Near the end of the import process I recieved about x4 Windows security popups asking me to Allow access (I made sure that Private was checked and Public was unchecked).
After that, the new site was Provisioned and Imported successfully.

  2. I did the same exercise on the Desktop successfully as well.

  3. I then took all the exported zip files from my Desktop (the files that I had previously exported on the Desktop), and imported all of them successfully on my new Laptop.

Strange I must say.
It seems like running the process of creating, exporting and importing on the Laptop alone greased the Flywheel Local wheel bearings😄

Anyway, I am so glad that it’s now working.
I had so many sites that I needed to transfer from my Desktop to my Laptop.

Thanks again for the great support.
Your input put me on the right track to solving this problem.

Kind regards.
