Version 9.0.2 won't update, blocks all internet traffic

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Trying to update to 9.0.2 simply hangs each time. While it’s hanging I can’t access the internet. Once I hit cancel, internet connection works again.

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

I simply clicked the “install update” button

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @DavidG

What type of network are you on? Is it an office/work type network?

Do you use a VPN?

Home network (gigabit). No VPN.

Everything works as long as I don’t click “install update”. I can still open Local fine and open sites through Local fine, and my internet connection is fine. As soon as I click “install update” the progress bar does nothing and my internet is inaccessible. Once I cancel the update (even though the progress bar never “progressed”), everything is back to normal.

Can you try updating manually and see if that works?

  1. Download the latest release here: Releases - Local

  2. Quit Local if it’s running

  3. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Local.app to /Applications. If prompted to replace the existing version, go ahead and replace the existing version.

That worked! Thank you!
