Your connection is not private Error

Issue Summary

Some of my Local sites have started showing a Privacy error in Google Chrome when I try to “Open Site” from Local. Most of these errors can be bypassed by clicking “Advanced” then “Continue To Site” link, however a few of my sites aren’t even giving me this option. The error on these sites simply says

“You cannot visit ____.local right now because the website sent scrambled credentials that Chrome cannot process. Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later.”

The site never starts working and there is no option to bypass the error.

Troubleshooting Questions

  • Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?
Seems to be hit or miss. Possibly only sites that were created with an older version of Flywheel.

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?
Yes, but I still see a " Your connection is not private" error (albeit on that I can bypass).

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used?
    6.6.0

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?
    macOS Ventura 13.0.1

Hi @cpostill! We’ve seen this come up off and on through various releases but it’s been sporadic and tough to replicate. There has been a lot of troubleshooting, communication, and game planning for future releases on another thread so I’ll link you to the most relevant message from our Product Manager with some suggested steps to resolve: SSL certificates no longer work in Google Chrome - #42 by austinwendt
