Cloud Backup

Bug Summary

I did a cloud backup of my local site on imac. So I create a new site on my macbookair from this backup. But not all files are create on my macbookair. App/public/save and App/public/sql App/public/wp-includes are missing and a lot of files in wp-content

Steps to reproduce

Go on imac and create a first backup with cloud backup on dropbox.
Go on macbookair and create a new site from last backup.
In both cases the procedure was successfully completed.

Hi @fredericm

A couple of things here that might help us narrow down where the issue is:

  • Are you able to test using Google instead of Dropbox to see if the result is the same?

  • If you export the site into a zip on your iMac, and then manually load that zip on the Macbookair (using email, fileshare, etc) can you import that into Local and see if it works normally?

Keep us posted and we’d be happy to help further!

Thanks for your quick answer. Using GoogleDrive instead of Dropbox had the same result.
By exporting and then importing the zip file worked very well.
Is there a procedure to follow to synchronise these 2 local sites on the two different computers?

Thank you for doing that testing! I’m glad the native export/import flow worked well. I’m unsure why the Cloud Backup flow isn’t syncing normally but will look into that further.

Currently. there isn’t a way to easily synchronize multiple sites on different machines. The workflow would be a bit of a more manual process. You can upvote and comment on this feature request below which another user recently created:

Hi @fredericm

Following up here. We did some testing and weren’t able to replicate the same issue so the devs had some follow up questions:

  • Have you previously edited the list of ignored files?

  • Did you make any adjustments with a site folder during the backup?

  • Where are your sites located on the source machine?

  • Have you successfully backed up sites with either provider before this attempt?

1-I edited but nothing was listed and I excluded no file.
2-No
3- in users/myname/Local Sites/…
4 It was the first time I have installed and used Cloud Backup

Hi @fredericm - Thank you for the follow up! I’ve passed this along to the devs for further investigation. If you have any other questions or details please feel free to come back and share!
